#KikiChallenge: A decadent response to a hypocritic song

Kiki challenge

Estimated reading time: 3 minutes

Every song now needs a challenge to be promoted-Dance steps, transition, lip syncing, makeover and a lot more. But late last week, the Kiki Challenge began to surface. The challenge was in response to the song by Leftizzle. Researching about the song, it has been released since last year so why is it trending now? Maybe someone is looking for attention, views or traffic to their social media page.

In his song, he says Kiki is a good girl, she goes to church weekly and yet she can be freaky in bef. Well, my opinion is that the lyrics of the song are hypocritical. I don’t think one’s religion determines one’s sexual life. The fact that she goes to church doesn’t make her a nun and if she’s not one, she can be freaky with her partner because she’s human. That’s what humans do.

The Kiki challenge itself is widespread and on the extreme. It is currently trending at number one in Zimbabwe. Thank God, Nigerian ladies have not started theirs. Ladies responding to the lyrics with challenge videos is quite embarrassing. They would pose to be a church girl all covered up for some seconds then transition to being in a bikini in steamy poses.

But come to think of it, the fact that someone goes to church does not they are spiritual. They are probably just religious.

If a girl goes to church in all the right beliefs, she doesn’t have to do the challenge to show that she’s freaky. If she does the challenge, then going to church was all a show. Religion does not clip the wings of believer’s sexual life. It only accords for it to be done the right way. Good people have sexual lives so it’s not applicable to just women alone. As long as they are not nuns or monks, they have the right to proper sexual lives and health.

Instead of criticizing the lyrics of the song, my fellow gender has decided to accept it. The song on its own might just have been the singer’s opinion but to those doing the Kiki challenge, they are not the good girl Leftizzle was talking about in the song. Like the Buss it challenge, it appears this challenge might spread like wildfire. People might start to go extreme with it and the whole challenge becomes one of moral decadence.

In the age of baddies, everyone wants to prove they are one. Instead of promoting the song with a moral decadence challenge, there are better ways to do it. Or scrap it, the song was never right at all. Leave the freakiness to your partner to witness and not on social media.
