Kwankwaso also confirmed that former APC governorship candidate, Nasiru Gawuna, would contest the Kano Central Senatorial seat on the party’s ticket.
The decision signals a significant realignment in Kano’s political landscape, particularly following Gwarzo’s resignation as deputy governor earlier this year amid internal political tensions within the state’s former ruling structure.
Kwankwaso said the selections reflected the guiding values of his political movement.

“This decision reflects equity, fairness, loyalty and competence — values that remain central to our party and the Kwankwasiyya movement,” he said.
The announcement comes ahead of the party’s formal affirmation exercise, a statutory requirement to confirm candidates before the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) deadlines.
Kwankwaso expressed confidence in the party’s prospects, calling on members to ensure a peaceful and orderly process as the campaign season begins.
