In a historic move that reinforces his administration’s commitment to inclusive growth, Kwara State Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq has inaugurated the Osi Campus of Kwara State University (KWASU).

The event, which took place amidst wide applause from stakeholders, marked a milestone in the stateā€™s educational development and the fulfilment of a promise to complete abandoned projects.

He said the inauguration was more than just a project commissioning but a lesson in history and a testament to his administration’s pledge that Kwara will not become a mortuary of abandoned projects.

Governor Abdulrazaq said the Osi and Ilesha Baruba campuses are symbols of his administrationā€™s resolve to drive progress, expand access to quality education, and foster economic growth across the state.

The governor highlighted the challenges faced during the project, including inflation and its initial abandonment by the previous administration.

Despite these hurdles, he reiterated his administration’s commitment to strategic planning and resource management, resulting in the completion of the campuses.

The newly commissioned Osi Campus is designed to host the Faculty of Environmental Sciences, offering programs such as Fine and Applied Arts, Geography and Remote Sensing, Urban and Regional Planning, and Estate Management, with plans to introduce Architecture and Quantity Surveying in the next academic session.

He said the campus was not just a structure; but a beacon of hope for future generations. ā€œIt will create new opportunities, foster innovation, and serve as a hub for academic excellence,ā€ the Governor added, urging the host community to maintain peaceful coexistence with the institution.

Governor Abdulrazaq emphasised that the Osi Campus, alongside the Ilesha Baruba Campus, will stimulate economic activities, foster a sense of belonging among the people, and drive social inclusion.

The modern facilities, including state-of-the-art lecture halls and laboratories, reflect the administrationā€™s broader agenda of making Kwara a hub for technical expertise and innovation.

As the state celebrates this achievement, the governor assured citizens of his continued efforts to expand development across all sectors, stressing that the successes recorded so far are the collective fruits of the peopleā€™s resilience and cooperation.

However, the Olosi of Osi, Oba Saliu Adasofegbe, commended the governor, describing him as “a man of his word” and listing several projects completed in Osi under the current administration.

These include the Osi-Obbo-Aiyegunle road, the provision of electric transformers, and the renovation of classrooms. Mary Arinde, the Commissioner for Tertiary Education, hailed the completion of the campuses as a bold step toward empowering youth and fostering regional development.

Similarly, KWASUā€™s Pro-Chancellor, Abdulganiyu Ambali, and Vice-Chancellor, Sheikh Luqman Jimoh, pledged to ensure the effective utilization of the facilities to advance learning and research.

The governor also received praise from Johnson Bamidele Adewumi, KWASU Chancellor, and various dignitaries, including representatives of traditional councils, government officials, and academic leaders, who described the inauguration as a turning point for the institution and the state.
