As part of ongoing efforts to strengthen security and sustain peace across Kwara State, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq held a high-level meeting with the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Olatubosun Oluyede, at the Ahmadu Bello House, Ilorin.

The meeting came in the wake of reported activities by non-state actors in parts of Kwara North and South, prompting renewed coordination between the state government and the Nigerian Army.

Prior to the closed-door meeting, Governor AbdulRazaq had led a joint security delegation on an operational tour of Kaiama Local Government Area in Kwara North.

The tour was aimed at assessing security threats and reinforcing the government’s commitment to flushing out elements deemed a threat to peace, particularly in the more vulnerable parts of the state.

Speaking after the meeting, General Oluyede commended AbdulRazaq for his unwavering support to the Nigerian Army, including the recent donation of vehicles and motorcycles to the 22 Armoured Brigade.

He assured the governor of the military’s continued collaboration with other security agencies to curb rising threats and restore stability in affected communities.

“Peace is gradually returning to those areas, and we are committed to ensuring it is sustained,” the Army Chief said.

Governor AbdulRazaq, since assuming office in 2019, has consistently supported security operations in the state, making strategic investments in logistics and operational mobility for personnel.

His interventions have reportedly enhanced surveillance and intelligence-led operations, particularly in forested regions often exploited by criminal groups.

The meeting underscores the administration’s resolve to maintain Kwara’s reputation as one of Nigeria’s most stable states.
