Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has established a cabinet-level security committee, named the ‘Safer Kwara’ Committee, to devise sustainable solutions for curtailing security breaches across the state.
The governor announced in a statement posted on the state government’s Facebook page on Tuesday that the committee will be chaired by his deputy, Kayode Alabi.
He tasked the new panel with facilitating exclusive engagements with various stakeholders, including traditional rulers, to design a security strategy specific to Kwara State and strengthen public safety.
AbdulRazaq added that the goal was to develop alternative short-to long-term solutions.

According to him, the committee’s report is expected to “further enrich existing understanding of the nationwide security situations from local perspectives.”
Joining Alabi as members are: Olufunke Shittu as secretary, Brigadier General Saliu Bello, Special Adviser on Security Matters, Abdullahi Bata, Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Community Development, Muhyideen Aliu, Senior Special Assistant on Security, and Moshood Gobir, Special Assistant on Security.
Also, the committee will include one local government chairman from each of the three Senatorial Districts.
He mandated the committee to submit its report to him within four weeks for consideration and action.
