The Kwara State Government has restated its dedication to improving the welfare of workers and pensioners, emphasising better working conditions, self-development opportunities, and timely benefits.
Speaking at the fourth quarterly Inter-Ministerial Press Briefing in Ilorin, the Commissioner for Finance, Hauwa Nuru, highlighted the administration’s focus under Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.
She noted the prompt payment of salaries, pensions, and staff promotions as key priorities.
To cushion the effects of fuel subsidy removal, Nuru announced a three-month financial bonus equivalent to workers’ monthly PAYE tax obligations.
The bonus, covering October to December 2024, applies to all state and local government employees.

“Under Governor AbdulRazaq’s leadership, Kwara has been recognized by the World Bank’s SABER program, earning significant reimbursement for meeting transparency and accountability standards,” Nuru stated.
She also praised the state’s performance in the NG-CARES programme, which earned recognition during its fourth Independent Verification Assessment.
Efforts to improve the Ministry of Finance’s infrastructure, including office renovations, solar installations, and ICT upgrades, were also highlighted as measures to boost efficiency.
Nuru commended Governor AbdulRazaq for his commitment to fiscal prudence and development-focused governance, which she credited for the state’s successes.
