The Kwara State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to fostering a robust partnership with the Federal Ministry of Solid Minerals Development and key stakeholders to enhance mining practices and solid mineral activities within the state.
This announcement was made by the Commissioner for Solid Minerals Development, Afees Abolore Alabi, during the Fourth Quarter Inter-Ministerial Press Briefing organized by the Ministry of Communications.
Abolore highlighted Kwara’s position as one of Nigeria’s leading solid mineral-producing states, pledging that his ministry would fully harness the state’s mineral resources for economic growth.
He also emphasised the government’s dedication to creating seamless investment opportunities in the mining sector and boosting the stateās internally generated revenue.
To achieve this, the state government has registered five Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs) and is awaiting licenses, which are expected to be granted by the first quarter of the year.
Abolore further revealed that measures to curb illegal mining activities in the state are in full swing.

“We have established and consolidated robust collaborations with security agencies at various levels to address security challenges at mining sites across Kwara State. Discussions with the heads of these agencies have yielded commitments to provide support whenever necessary,” Abolore stated.
The Commissioner also expressed gratitude to Governor Abdulrahman AbdulRazaq for his administrationās unwavering support in positioning Kwara State at the national forefront of the solid minerals sector.
He lauded the governorās efforts to secure grants and loans aimed at fostering growth in the industry.
In her remarks, the Commissioner for Communications, Bola Olujoku, commended Governor AbdulRazaqās administration for its significant achievements across all sectors.
She described the ongoing inter-ministerial press briefing as an avenue to highlight the administrationās visionary and lasting legacies.
āThe governorās commitment to the development of Kwara State is both notable and worthy of emulation,ā Olujoku added.
