In a thrilling La Liga clash, Barcelona edged Athletic Bilbao 2-1 on Saturday, with Lamine Yamal outshining fellow Spain star Nico Williams.
Yamal opened the scoring in the 24th minute, curling a left-footed shot into the net after controlling a deflected ball and evading defenders on the edge of the box.
Athletic Bilbao equalised in the 42nd minute through Oihan Sancet, who converted a penalty after Pau Cubarsí fouled Alejandro Berenguer.

Despite this, Barcelona maintained pressure, and Robert Lewandowski restored their lead in the 75th minute. The Polish striker capitalised on a well-crafted move involving Raphinha and Pedri to secure the win.
Lewandowski, who had also scored twice in Barcelona’s previous 2-1 victory against Valencia, continued his strong form.
Barcelona’s new coach, Hansi Flick, gave a second consecutive start to 17-year-old midfielder Marc Bernal, who played alongside fellow 17-year-olds Yamal and Cubarsí.
Athletic Bilbao, missing their first-choice and backup goalkeepers due to injury, fielded third-string keeper Álex Padilla.
The encounter featured seven players from Spain’s Euro 2024-winning squad, adding to the excitement of the encounter.
