Labour Party appoints AJU Elumelu-James as SA to Abure

The Labour Party has appointed AJU Elumelu-James as the Special Adviser on Media and Strategic Communication to the National Chairman, Julius Abure.

In a statement released on Tuesday, by the National Publicity Secretary, Obiora Ifoh, the party described the appointment as a recognition of Elumelu-James’s “unwavering commitment, strategic insight, and years of selfless service.”

Elumelu-James brings extensive experience in international political engagement to her new role.

Her previous roles within the party included serving as Deputy Director in the Directorate of Mobilisation and Integration (Diaspora), where she coordinated activities across several countries.

She also held the position of Secretary General of the Directorate of International and Diaspora Affairs (DIDA), a role in which she was credited with strengthening the party’s global presence.

The party noted that since 2023, she has been a consistent voice for the party through “values-driven write-ups” aimed at shaping public narrative and inspiring supporters worldwide.

The leadership of the party has tasked the new Special Adviser with a clear mission: to deepen strategic messaging and amplify the party’s core ideals.

“Her new role reflects the confidence of the party’s leadership in her capacity to deepen strategic messaging, strengthen public engagement, and advance the party’s ideals with clarity and purpose,” the statement read.

The appointment comes as the party seeks to sharpen its communication strategy regarding good governance, accountability, and people-centred leadership.

The party expressed optimism that Elumelu-James would bring “renewed energy and professionalism” to the assignment.
