Ladoja will be a monumental Olubadan in history – Oluwo

The Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrosheed Akanbi, has extended his congratulations to the Olubadan-designate, Rashidi Ladoja, ahead of his coronation.

He urged both natives and residents of Ibadan to rally behind the incoming monarch, expressing confidence that his reign would usher in significant growth and transformation for the ancient city.

Describing Ladoja as a “phenomenal personality,” the Oluwo highlighted his vitality and political experience as qualities that would leave a lasting impact on Ibadan’s traditional institution.

In a statement issued on Thursday through his Press Secretary, Ibrahim Alli, Oba Akanbi also emphasized his maternal connection to Ibadan, noting that his mother was a princess from the city.

He further pointed to the long-standing historical bond between Iwo and Ibadan.

The monarch expressed optimism that Ladoja’s ascension would deepen the ties between the two towns.

The statement read, “I congratulate the good people of Ibadan, most especially the Olubadan-designate, Oba Rashidi Ladoja.

“His agility and wealth of experience as a former governor of Oyo State will distinguish him.

“He will be the first former governor to become Olubadan. I have strong hope in his ability to make a difference and become a monumental Olubadan in history.

“My maternal affinity and the ancient collaborative cooperation between Ibadan and Iwo have always been strong and unbreakable. The understanding between Ibadan and Iwo is ageless. This accounted for why many Iwoland warriors were accommodated in Ibadan.

We remain inseparable to date.”

Oba Akanbi also commended Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde for his support of traditional institutions and urged the people to stand firmly behind the new Olubadan as he begins his reign.
