Lagos advocates emotional intelligence for effective leadership

The Chief of Staff to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State, Tayo Ayinde, has called on directors in his office to adopt effective leadership strategies that foster productivity and improve workplace efficiency.

Speaking at the opening of the Annual Directorsā€™ Retreat in Ikeja, Ayinde highlighted the crucial role Directors play in shaping workplace culture and ensuring team success.

He emphasised the need for a collaborative and inspiring work environment, which he described as essential for achieving organisational goals.

Themed ā€œThe Role of Emotional Intelligence in Effective Leadership,ā€ the retreat aims to equip participants with critical leadership skills suited to modern workplace challenges.

Ayinde stressed the importance of emotional intelligence in leadership, noting that the program would provide insights into how it shapes management styles and enhances decision-making.

ā€œThis retreat will deepen our understanding of emotional intelligence, its influence on leadership effectiveness, and how we can harness it to become better leaders,ā€ he stated.

Reaffirming the state governmentā€™s commitment to professional development and workforce welfare, Ayinde urged participants to actively engage in discussions and explore innovative strategies to improve service delivery.

However, the Permanent Secretary, Office of the Chief of Staff, Semiu Kadri, noted that the retreat serves as a platform for aligning public service objectives with evolving organizational goals.

He encouraged participants to take advantage of networking opportunities and share experiences to foster greater collaboration and efficiency.

The retreat, structured into batches, accommodates officers across different grade levels, including Junior Officers (Grade Level 1-6), Senior and Middle-Level Officers (Grade Level 7-14), and Directors (Grade Level 15-17).
