As part of its commitment to making Lagos a leading sports hub, the Lagos State Government, has commissioned an Olympic-size swimming pool at Rowe Park Sports Centre, Yaba.
The facility, which includes a warm-up pool and a 250-seat pavilion, is expected to enhance sports development and recreational activities in the state.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, represented by the Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Mobolaji Ogunlende, inaugurated the world-class swimming facility along with newly rehabilitated handball, volleyball, and basketball courts at the sports complex.
Speaking at the event, Governor Sanwo-Olu described the project as a symbol of health, fitness, and community engagement, reinforcing his administration’s dedication to youth development and the promotion of active lifestyles.
“This is Lagos, the Centre of Excellence, a state of aquatic splendor, and the financial hub of Africa. This project reflects our unwavering commitment to providing world-class recreational and sports facilities for our residents,” he said.
The governor commended the Lagos State Sports Trust Fund (LSSTF) for facilitating the reconstruction of the swimming pool and other sports facilities through sponsorship.
