Lagos Govt reopens Ladipo market

The Lagos State Government has reopened the Ladipo market in Mushin for traders, following the fulfillment of key criteria.

This was disclosed in a statement by Director, Public Affairs, Mrs Kadiri Folashade on Monday.

Mrs Kadiri reported the statement of Mr. Tokunbo Wahab, Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, mentioning the resumption of business activities at the well-known spare parts market following its closure due to environmental violations.

The commissioner highlighted that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s administration emphasizes maintaining a clean environment, public health, and safety, aligning with the THEMES Plus agenda. This focus prompted the recent implementation of stringent waste management practices across various markets in the state.

Dr Muyiwa Gbadegesin, the Managing Director/CEO of LAWMA, reiterated the organization’s unwavering dedication to promoting environmental sustainability and public safety. Emphasizing the significance of adhering to environmental regulations, particularly within markets and commercial spaces, he underscored the objective of ensuring strict compliance among all markets in Lagos State. This, he emphasized, would lead to a secure and healthier business environment for both buyers and sellers.

Gbadegesin encouraged traders to actively support the State Government’s initiatives by strictly adhering to environmental laws, cautioning that markets found in violation risked facing indefinite closure.
