In a move to strengthen compliance and improve living conditions across government-owned estates, the Lagos State Ministry of Housing has conducted a two-day in-house training for its Monitoring and Compliance Officers.
The training, themed “Enhancing Effective Monitoring of State Housing Estates,” aimed to reinforce adherence to housing policies, enhance service delivery, and ensure better management of public housing.
Speaking at the opening of the programme, the Honourable Commissioner for Housing, Moruf Akinderu-Fatai, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to providing sustainable housing solutions for Lagos residents.
He described the initiative as a vital strategy for maintaining order and improving standards in state-run estates.

Also addressing participants, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Housing, Engr. Abdulhafis Toriola, highlighted the importance of capacity building in enhancing monitoring and enforcement mechanisms across the estates.
The training focused on several key objectives, including strengthening officers’ understanding of operational procedures, reinforcing housing regulations, developing practical monitoring skills, and ensuring better maintenance and management of government-owned properties.
Other goals include improving the overall quality of life for residents, encouraging greater compliance with housing policies, and promoting orderly estate environments.
The initiative, according to the Ministry, reflects its ongoing dedication to fostering sustainable living and enhancing the efficient operation of housing estates throughout the state.
