A critical road traffic accident involving a commercial long bus, commonly known as a ‘Molue,’ occurred earlier today at Ahmadiyya inward Abule-Egba, resulting in significant injuries and major traffic disruption.
The incident took place when the vehicle, registered as KTU 801 XM, lost control at high speed.
The driver, reportedly exhibiting impatience, swerved in an attempt to avoid colliding with another commercial bus and pedestrians waiting at the roadside.
Unfortunately, the sharp maneuver caused the bus to crash into the expressway median and overturn.Several passengers sustained injuries, while others managed to escape through the bus’s windows.
The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) swiftly responded to the scene, launching a coordinated and efficient rescue operation.
A total of eight individuals, including five males and three females, were injured in the crash. Among the victims was the bus driver, who suffered a fractured left arm.
All injured passengers were promptly handed over to LASAMBUS medical personnel and transported to the General Hospital at Ile-Epo for immediate medical attention.
In order to ease traffic congestion and enhance public safety, LASTMA’s Response Unit was mobilized to remove the overturned vehicle.

The operation was further supported by officers from the Meiran Police Division, ensuring smooth coordination and security during the rescue efforts.
LASTMA General Manager, Olalekan Bakare-Oki, expressed his deep concern for the injured passengers, extending his well wishes for their quick recovery.
He also urged all road users to adhere strictly to traffic regulations, particularly speed limits, to prevent avoidable accidents.
Mr Bakare-Oki further appealed to commercial and private vehicle operators to ensure the regular maintenance of their vehicles, especially critical systems such as brakes, to prevent similar incidents in the future.
