Lagos street renamed after Adekunle Gold

Nigerian singer Adekunle Gold has been honoured with a street named after him in Lagos State.

The 38-year-old artiste shared the proud moment with his fans through a video on Instagram showing the unveiling ceremony.

The event featured Adekunle Gold, his wife Simi, and their daughter Deja, who joined him in revealing the street sign that now bears his full name, “Adekunle Kosoko Street.”

The singer expressed gratitude for the recognition, saying it was a touching tribute from the city where he grew up.

He wrote on his Instagram page: “Adekunle Kosoko Street. The city that raised me now carries my name. Thank you, Lord, for my many blessings.”

Adekunle Gold, known for his hit song “Sade,” comes from the Kosoko royal family of Lagos Island.

His ancestry traces back to Oba Kosoko, the former king of Lagos who ruled between 1845 and 1851.

The naming of the street serves as both a personal and cultural honour, linking the artiste’s modern achievements to his royal roots.
