In 2019, Nigerian recording artiste, Fireboy DML whose real name is Adedamola Oyinlola Adefolahan released his debut studio album, Laughter, Tears & Goosebumps.
The music project was well received by the Nigerian populace and other lovers of Afrobeats across Africa.
Speaking about Laughter, Tears & Goosebumps, the album emerged at a time when the Nigerian music industry was becoming void of content and most artistes were simply releasing 2-minutes track that featured repetitive lyrics and sound.

Fireboy, a graduate of English language from the prestigious institution, Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) penned his heart and exuded the entirety of his skillset on the 2019 classic. Prior to the release of Laughter, Tears & Goosebumps (often stylized as LTG), Fireboy among the coterie of youngsters who were signed to Olamide‘s record label, Yahoo Boy No Laptop (YBNL).
Some notable youngsters signed to YBNL at the time include; Davo Lee, Limerick, Lyta and Yemo Blaze. Alongside the head honcho of the record label, Olamide, the collaborative album, YBNL Mafia Family was released in 2018. Fireboy specifically stood out on the music project.
His single, ‘Jealous’ which later reappeared on the LTG music project the following year became a massive hit. The single stood out primarily because it resonated with his immediate audience at the time, especially the young men.
While other personnel on the YBNL Mafia Family project did not get to continue with Olamide’s record label, Fireboy went on to commence his journey into superstardom.
What Makes Laughter, Tears & Goosebumps A Profound Listen?
On LTG, Fireboy did not feature any artiste, which is commendable. The artiste went on 13-tracks, approximately 40 minutes to blow away the mind of his audience with his skillset, lyricism and composition.
The singer-songwriter disclosed why he is one of the most promising burgeoning musicians in the entertainment industry. He revealed why he is ahead of his contemporaries who are predominantly snappy with their approach to music.
On hits such as “Jealous“, Fireboy expressed his desire to any see his love interest/partner with another person. The single is relatable and the sound is enjoyable.
As for several tracks such as “Need you” and “Like I do“, Fireboy wore the armour of a lover and held the pen of romantic poet. Simply put, Fireboy was the William Shakespeare everyone young Nigerian wanted to listen to at the time.
It would be important to note that the single, “Scatter” featured on the FIFA 21 game soundtrack.
The Legacy Of LTG…
The 27-year-old Nigerian musician has amassed numerous awards since the release of his debut studio album in 2019.
At the 2020 Headies Award ceremony, Fireboy was able to garner five awards in one night. Specifically, his album, Laughter, Tears & Goosebumps emerged successful in the R&B Album category.
Conclusion…
Fireboy has since gone on to release two more studio albums; Apollo (2020) and Playboy (2022). Though the aforementioned music projects are incredible, they are not as impeccable as his debut studio album.
While the dexterous musician has shown that he is a skilled music composer and poet, he is unable to replicate the fluidity on his latter music releases, however, he is still an incredible singer-songwriter.
