Ahead of the January 18th local government elections in Ondo State, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has urged the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates to avoid complacency and stay focused as they campaign for victory.
He said this while meeting with chairmanship, vice-chairmanship, and councillorship candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) across the state’s 18 local government areas at the Cocoa Conference Hall in Akure on Friday.
Governor Aiyedatiwa emphasised the importance of building on the successes achieved during the last governorship election.
The governor reassured the candidates of his full support but stressed that overconfidence should be avoided. āLet us remain focused and strategic in our approach,ā he added.
He further advised the candidates to demonstrate dedication, competence, and a deep commitment to the people, calling for leaders who would not only represent the people well but also fulfill their promises.
However, APC State Chairman, Ade Adetimehin congratulated the candidates on their emergence and reminded them of the heavy responsibility they now carry.

He emphasised the significance of the local government elections, describing it as a defining moment for the candidates.
Adetimehin also urged the candidates to focus their campaigns at the grassroots level to effectively communicate the party’s agenda of good governance.
Meanwhile, Gbenga Fasua from Akure South on behalf of the candidates appreciated Governor Aiyedatiwa and the APC leadership for the opportunity to serve, pledging to work hard for the success of the party in the upcoming election.
