LinkedIn has a new AI chatbot for jobseekers

Estimated reading time: 2 minutes

LinkedIn is introducing new artificial intelligence-powered features aimed at giving job seekers an edge in their search for new opportunities. The tools, powered by OpenAIā€™s generative AI technology, provide tailored advice to help users position themselves as strong candidates.

The new features include an AI-powered chatbot indicated by a sparkle emoji on job listings. Premium users can click on the emoji to open a chat window and ask questions about a role, company culture, benefits, and more. The chatbot provides bullet point answers sourced from LinkedInā€™s trove of company and industry data.

Job search, per Rohan Rajiv of LinkedIn, can resemble scaling a tall wall to gauge fit for a role. ā€œYouā€™re really hoping that you can reach out to the other side of the wall and figure out: What are my chances here? What is it like to work there?ā€ The new AI features aim to give candidates some of that insider intel.

LinkedIn introduced AI updates, like auto profile summaries, job descriptions, and personalized coaching, in the past year. They also come amid a period of economic uncertainty and layoffs across the tech industry.

In robust job markets, hiring involves intricate applications, multiple interviews, and tests, burdening candidates with additional steps to navigate. LinkedIn’s new AI helps job seekers with personalized insights and advice, aiming to level the playing field effectively.

Microsoft integrates AI into productivity tools; LinkedIn, its subsidiary, intensifies focus on artificial intelligence in professional networking.
