Liverpool winger Luis Díaz has pleaded for his father’s abductors to free him after over a week of his kidnap in Colombia.
Díaz’s parents were kidnapped at gunpoint in his hometown of Barrancas by the National Liberation Army (ELN) on 28 October.
While his mother was released hours later, the kidnapers have since held on to his father.

In an emotional moment, Luis Díaz came off the bench late in the game to score against Luton on Sunday. He lifted his shirt to reveal Spanish words inscribed on his underwear which reads: “freedom for papa”.
“Every second, every minute our anxiety grows,” Díaz said in a statement after the match.
“My mother, my brothers and I are desperate, anxious and have no words to describe what we are feeling. This suffering will only end when we have him home with us.

“I beg that they free him immediately, respecting his integrity and ending this painful wait. In the name of love and compassion we ask they reconsider their actions and allow us to have him back.”
