LNSC apprehends two thieves in Lagos

While residents marked the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations, operatives of the Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Corps (LNSC), Ikorodu Command, apprehended two thieves attempting to flee with stolen items.

The suspects, Olamilekan Adumobi, 21, from Bode-Olude, Abeokuta, Ogun State, and his accomplice, Jabir, who identified himself as a scrap dealer from Katsina State, were caught around 2:00 pm in front of the Central Mosque on Kazeem Arulogun Street, Ikorodu.

Upon their arrest, the duo was taken to the Ikorodu Command office at Ita-Elewa, where they confessed to stealing various construction tools, including five cutting discs, two welding tongs, five pieces of angle iron, and a hammer.

The property owner, Barrister Ade Adeshina, and the welder, Pastor Talabi Adegbenro, whose items were stolen from a site in Abule Balogun, Eruwen, were contacted and invited to the Command office.

However, both victims chose not to press charges on compassionate grounds. Instead, the suspects were made to write undertakings, pledging never to engage in criminal activities again, before they were released.

Commending the officers for their swift action, the General Manager of the Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Agency, Ifalade Oyekan, reiterated the government’s commitment to ensuring a crime-free Lagos.

He also warned criminals to steer clear of the state, emphasising that the Corps remains vigilant in its mission to protect lives and property.
