Lota Chukwu discloses why making documentary is hard in Nigeria


Nollywood actress, Lota Chukwu has taken to the social media platform, Twitter to explain why she believes making a documentary is hard in Nigeria.

In a post that she shared on the social media platform on Tuesday, April 26; the actress shared some of the turmoil she experienced while working on a FIFA original documentary.

ā€œShooting documentaries in Nigeria is difficult for a number of reasons,” she wrote.

She continued:

“Nigerians arenā€™t very honest.

Nigerians arenā€™t very open”

Lota Chukwu added, “Nigerians donā€™t keep footage. Everyone demands money to share their story and Everyone is more interested in ā€˜their truthā€™,ā€ the filmmaker tweeted.

In 2021, the Nollywood actress and moviemaker produced a FIFA original documentary on Nigeriaā€™s Super Eagles debut into the World Cup.

The documentary directed by Nora Awolowo featured interviews with Finidi George, Biola Kazeem, Akanni Raymon among others and was recently launched on FIFAā€™s website.
