Man City vs Southampton, Chelsea vs Leeds in FA Cup semis

Leeds United will face Chelsea in the FA Cup semifinals at Wembley. This ends a 39-year wait for a last-four appearance after beating West Ham United 4-2 on penalties. The shootout followed a thrilling 2-2 draw at the London Stadium.

Manchester City will take on Championship side Southampton in the other semifinal. This comes after City demolished Liverpool 4-0 in their quarterfinal tie at the Etihad Stadium.

How they got there

Chelsea cruised into the semifinals with a ruthless 7-0 demolition of Port Vale in their quarterfinal clash. This was the largest margin of victory in the round.

Leeds’ path was far more dramatic. Ao Tanaka and Dominic Calvert-Lewin had the Yorkshire side 2-0 up. Then Mateus Fernandes and Axel Disasi struck in stoppage time to force extra time and ultimately penalties. Leeds held their nerve from the spot to secure their first FA Cup semifinal berth since 1987.

Manchester City, last season’s beaten finalists, advanced with a commanding 4-0 victory over Premier League leaders Liverpool. The match took place at the Etihad Stadium.

Southampton, currently playing in the Championship, continued their giant-killing run to reach the final four.

Wembley awaits

Both semifinals will be played at Wembley Stadium over the weekend of April 25-26, 2026. One tie will take place on each day. However, the exact schedule for which match falls on which day is yet to be confirmed.

Chelsea enter the tie as heavy favourites, but Leeds will draw confidence from their dramatic quarterfinal escape. The winner will face either Manchester City or Southampton in the final at Wembley on May 16, 2026.
