Manchester City edge Inter Milan to win first ever Champions League title

Spanish midfielder Rodri’s goal made the difference as Manchester City beat Inter Milan to win their maiden Champions League title and also claim the treble.

Manchester City started on a strong note but Inter Milan gave the English Champions a run for their money. The first half was a tight one with no real clear cut chances.

Bernardo Silva had his curled shot go just inches wide of the post. Erling Haaland tested former Ajax goalkeeper AndrĆ© Onana with a strong shot before Kevin De Bruyne’s long range shot was well gathered by the Cameroonian.

City could not control the midfield with the free flowing performance we’ve always known them for. The Inter Milan setup was one that choked and frustrated the City players.

Inter’s man-marking strategy was well implemented and and sustained them for long spells during the encounter.

The Cityzens lost inspirational midfielder Kevin De Bruyne to injury in the first half. Phil Foden replaced him as City continued to surge forward.

At the resume of the second half, the game continued from where it left off.

Pep Guardiola’s side won the Premier League and FA Cup, following the path of Manchester United’s treble-winning team of 1999. With their victory tonight, they become only the second English club to the feat.
