Brighton & Hove Albion came from behind to record a vital 2-1 victory against Manchester City in their Premier League clash at the Amex stadium on Saturday.
Erling Haaland scored the game’s opener but substitute Joao Pedro – returning from an injury – equalised and provided the assist for Matt O’Riley’s winner.
This is the first time Pep Guardiola has lost four straight matches as Manchester City boss. It is also the first time since 2006 that City have lost four games consecutively.

Haaland gave City an early advantage, scoring in the 23rd minute from a Mateo Kovacic pass. After halftime, Brighton took control, growing more confidently into the game and threatening with every passing minute.
Match report
City’s defense looked increasingly shaky, and Brighton’s persistence paid off when Pedro pounced on a loose ball to level with just 12 minutes of normal time remaining.
With City struggling, O’Riley, recently back from injury and making his league debut, found space before beating Ederson to put Brighton ahead five minutes later.
The Seagulls had missed earlier chances, including close-range efforts by Jack Hinshelwood and Georginio Rutter, but City’s defense finally broke under the relentless pressure.
Despite City’s initial dominance and Haaland’s 12th Premier League goal of the season, Brighton’s aggressive approach began exposing weaknesses. Without the steadying presence of Ruben Dias, John Stones, or Rodri, City looked vulnerable against the attacking forays of Brighton.
As City lost composure after Pedro’s goal, Brighton’s 31-year-old manager Fabian Hurzeler urged his team forward. For City, the return of Kevin de Bruyne as a substitute was a brief boost, though it came too late to turn the tide.
Liverpool expand lead
Title rivals Liverpool won on same day, beating Aston Villa 2-0 courtesy of goals by Darwin Nuñez and Mohamed Salah. Liverpool occupy top position in the Premier League table with 28 points, five ahead of City who sit second.
While it’s too soon to count Manchester City out as title challengers, injuries and recent form have opened the door for their rivals. Guardiola, facing a four-game losing streak for the first time since his Bayern Munich days, will use the upcoming international break to regroup before entertaining Tottenham on November 23.
