The long-awaited hearing into Manchester City’s alleged breach of Premier League financial rules kicks off on Monday. These 115 charges date back to February 2023 after a detailed four-year investigation.
The accusations centre on City’s financial conduct between 2009 and 2018. City, however, has firmly denied all claims, citing “irrefutable evidence” to support their defense.
The Premier League alleges City provided inaccurate financial details, failing to represent the club’s true financial state. This includes concerns over revenue reporting, particularly sponsorship income and operational expenses.

In addition, City has been accused of not cooperating fully with the investigation. They’ve previously dismissed the allegations as “entirely false,” blaming hacked emails leaked by Der Spiegel.
Since their 2008 acquisition by the Abu Dhabi United Group, City has secured eight Premier League titles and the Champions League. Manager Pep Guardiola expressed relief that the hearing is starting soon, eager for a final resolution.
Guardiola said he’s happy it’s beginning on Monday and hopes for a swift conclusion. He emphasised the importance of waiting for proof before assuming guilt, despite the rampant speculation.
Where is the hearing happening?
The hearing isn’t public, as it’s not a formal court case, and the location remains confidential. Some sessions might even happen remotely through video calls, ensuring a modern approach.
For how long will the hearing last?
Reports suggest the hearing could stretch over 10 weeks, meaning we could see a resolution by late November. While the road ahead might be long, fans and pundits alike are eager to see how this saga ends.
