Manchester United sack Dutch manager Erik Ten Hag following West Ham loss

Manchester United have shown Erik ten Hag the exit door after over two years as the Red Devils’ first-team manager.

The club made the announcement on Monday afternoon via its official website.

Ten Hag joined Manchester United in April 2022, leading the club to two domestic trophies. He won the Carabao Cup in 2023 and the FA Cup in 2024.

A statement by the club read: “We are grateful to Erik for everything he has done during his time with us and wish him well for the future.

Ten Hag departs Manchester United after their 2-1 loss to West Ham at the London Stadium on Sunday.

United numbers under Ten Hag

In 85 Premier League matches, Ten Hag led United to 44 wins, 14 losses, and 27 draws. He had a 52% win rate and averaged 1.72 points per match.

So far this season, United have won three and drawn two out of nine league outings. The team has also suffered defeat in four matches, the latest being the loss to the Hammers.

All three of their UEFA Europa League clashes in the 2024/25 campaign have ended in draws.

Meanwhile, Manchester United have won only one of their last eight games in all competitions. The Red Devils occupy 14th position on the 2024/25 Premier League table with 11 points.

Sporting Lisbon’s 39-year-old manager Rúben Amorim is favourite to become United’s next permanent gaffer.
