Mary Njoku, Nollywood actress opines Afrobeats originated from Nigeria


ROK TV frontwoman and Nollywood leading actress, Mary Njoku has stated that Afrobeats was established in Nigeria.

Taking to her Instagram platform during the early hours of today, Mary Njoku stated that the renowned music genre has its roots in Nigeria and should not be claimed by any other nation.

Njoku made reference to how someone claimed that plantain chips was “invented” in America and how a foreigner who doesn’t speak Yoruba was acknowledged as the one who named Nigerian youths the “Sorosoke Generation”.

The actress went further to mention that we need to always point out that Afrobeats originates from Nigeria before it becomes a “jollof rice” story.
