Mason Greenwood bids farewell to La Liga club Getafe

Mason Greenwood has said goodbye to La Liga outfit Getafe after spending the past season in Spain, NRTC reports.

The 22-year-old released a short but emotional message on social media platform Instagram on Sunday.

This was after Getafe played their last game of the 2023/24 La Liga season – a 2-1 home loss to Mallorca.

Following the conclusion of the game, Getafe fans were seen shouting “Mason Greenwood, stay.”

Greenwood and Manchester United parted ways last year and the forward was sent on loan to Getafe.

This was after the young player was charged with attempted rape, controlling and coercive behaviour and assault. However, the charges were dropped.

Manchester United’s decision part ways with Greenwood last year was reached after a lengthy internal investigation. The hearing started in February, 2023 following the U.K Crown Prosecution Service discontinued it’s case against the player.

Mason Greenwood’s message on Instagram

“Incredibly grateful to the Getafe family and fans for an amazing season. Thank you for making me feel welcomed and one of your own. I enjoyed every second, alongside my teammates and club.

“A bitter sweet ending, but it was a pleasure to play for you, I wish you all the best šŸ’™ @getafeCF.”

Greenwood will now return to Manchester United as fans await the club’s board next action regarding the player.
