Lionel Messi has officially inked a contract extension with Inter Miami CF that will keep him tied to Major League Soccer until the end of the 2028 season.
The announcement came via a club video posted on X, showing Messi signing his new deal at the future site of the stadium, Freedom Park in Miami. It was accompanied by a simple but poignant caption: “He’s Home”.
Since joining Miami in 2023, Messi’s presence has transformed the club and the league. Over 28 matches this season alone, he scored 29 goals to clinch the MLS Golden Boot. Meanwhile, the club’s value has more than doubled.

In his statement, Messi noted: “Since I arrived in Miami, I’ve been very happy, so I’m truly glad to keep going here.” He emphasised that the decision reflected not only a sporting commitment but also personal happiness and connection to the city.

Co-owner David Beckham praised Messi’s decision, saying it demonstrated his unwavering desire to win and inspire the next generation of talent. “He’s still as committed as he’s ever been,” Beckham said.
The extension guarantees Messi’s presence in the United States through the 2026 World Cup and beyond. His three-year deal appears poised to be the final chapter of his illustrious playing career.
