The Major League Soccer (MLS) has sacked Montreal midfielder Matko Miljevic after claims he played for an amateur team using a fake name.
It was also alleged Miljevic was banned indefinitely following an incident in which he punched an opponent while playing for the local side.
MLS stated he was “engaging in conduct detrimental to the league and violating his standard player agreement”.

Meanwhile Montreal has confirmed the 22-year-old American was no longer with the club. Miljevic joined Montreal in August 2021 after leaving Argentine side Argentinos Juniors.
It was claimed Miljevic had played three games for a friend’s team in a Quebec amateur league. He scored six goals after claims he became frustrated with a lack of playing time at Montreal.
This season, Miljevic made eight substitute appearances for Montreal.
