Moniepoint Microfinance Bank, a leading Nigerian fintech, has disclosed it processed a staggering N412 trillion in transaction value and disbursed over N1 trillion in loans throughout the 2025 financial year.

The data, released in the company’s annual review, underscores its dominant role in powering commerce and expanding credit access for Nigeria’s massive informal sector and small businesses.

The fintech giant reported processing more than 14 billion transactions, accounting for an estimated 80% of the nation’s in-person payments.

Its loan disbursements were primarily targeted at micro and small enterprises, including provision stores, supermarkets, and traders.

According to the company, businesses that accessed its credit recorded an average growth of over 36% post-disbursement.

Moniepoint credits its data-driven lending model—which uses alternative data like transaction history—for enabling this scale, serving over 6 million active businesses typically underserved by traditional banks.

Beyond core payments and lending, 2025 was a year of strategic growth for the Moniepoint group. Key developments included:

  • The re-launch of its savings product and the acquisition of a national microfinance bank licence.
  • Its subsidiary, TeamApt Ltd, securing critical Mastercard and Visa licences to operate as a processor and acquirer across Africa.
  • The launch of MonieWorld in the United Kingdom to serve the African diaspora and enhance cross-border payments.

The company’s expansion is supported by robust funding. In 2025, Moniepoint Inc. (formerly TeamApt) raised over $200 million in a Series C round from investors including the IFC, Visa, and Google’s Africa Investment Fund.

Group CEO Tosin Eniolorunda stated the focus remains on “building financial infrastructure to support Africa’s largely informal economy,” which accounts for most of the continent’s employment.
