I probably stumbled upon The Life List on Netflix and added it to my list. Here’s what the log line reads: “Get a tattoo. Learn to drive. Do stand up. Find true love. To claim an inheritance, Alex must complete her teenage bucket list–and the clock’s ticking.”
After Alex’s mother’s death, and when Brad, the associate partner and executor of her late mother’s estate read out the will, Alex got nothing, well, save for a DVD, although she had been dying to inherit her mother’s company Rose Cosmetics where she worked very hard, a job she took after giving up on her passion – teaching. To her, passion is overrated. “It is,” she said. “It never lasts,” she added, “and it’s completely overrated.”
Her mother didn’t completely agree with her, hence the reason for giving her the DVD for her to tick off items on her list, one of which is teaching. The more items she ticked off, the more DVDs she got, and she must tick off all these items, some not necessary, though, until New Year, before she’d get her inheritance.
Now, she must brave it all and complete those items on the list, items which were written on a sheet of paper, which to her was daunting at first, but with the encouragement of Brad, she set all out to achieve them. Another item on the list is to find true love. Though she was already dating Finn, she broke up with him when she didn’t meet the four questions every woman must ask a man before deciding to settle down with him.
What are these four questions?

I’m not halfway done with the movie yet, but these four questions got the better part of me and so form the crux of this article, so I’m going to share them with you.
Confronted with this particular item, she confided in her brother Lucas’s wife, who shared the questions with her. Lucas’s wife had broken up with Lucas before they got engaged. However, when she asked Alex’s mom for advice, she told her about her true love test: Four questions you’re supposed to ask yourself.
One, can you tell him everything in your heart?
Two, is he kind?
Three, does he help you become the best version of yourself? Meaning: Alex in full flight with Finn.
Four, can you imagine him as the father of your children?
Elizabeth, Alex’s mother, had told her to ask herself those questions, and if Lucas passed, she was on her way. And if you’re a woman and reading this, you should ask yourself these four questions, too.
