Popular Nigerian comedian and content creator, Adebowale Adedayo, better known as Mr Macaroni, has been selected as an International Judge for the Short Shorts Film Festival & Asia (SSFF & ASIA) 2025.
The SSFF & ASIA, held annually in Japan since its launch on June 4, 1999, is one of Asia’s largest and most respected short film festivals, and is officially accredited by the Academy Awards.
Winners in various categories at the festival become eligible for Oscar nominations.Announcing the news on his X (formerly Twitter) page, Mr Macaroni expressed his excitement and appreciation for the recognition.

“I am incredibly honored to be selected as the International Judge for the Shorts Shorts Film Festival & Asia (SSFF & ASIA) 2025. @s_s_f_f is Academy Awards® accredited and one of the largest international short film festivals in Asia originating in Japan. The best short films in each category and section will be nominated for the Academy Awards® in the following year,” he wrote.
Mr Macaroni, who is also known for his strong voice on social issues, will serve as a judge alongside Japanese actress Juri Ueno and filmmaker Miyuki Fukuma.
He is the only Nigerian chosen for the 2025 edition.SSFF & ASIA celebrates innovation in short filmmaking, spanning genres such as animation, environment, tourism, and CG.
Mr Macaroni’s selection reflects the growing global impact of African creatives and Nigeria’s rising influence in international cinema.
