Lucy Nwankwo delivered two personal bests in a single day at the MTN Champs Season 4 in Jos. She stormed to 11.52 seconds in the 100 metres and 24.04 seconds in the 200 metres.
The Team MTN athlete produced the standout performance of the competition. As a result, she announced herself as one of Nigeria’s most promising young sprinters.
Nwankwo first took to the track in the 100 metres semifinals. There, she clocked a massive personal best of 11.52 seconds. The time is a breakthrough for the junior sprinter. It ranks among the fastest for a Nigerian in her age category this season.
She returned later in the day for the 200 metres and delivered another personal best, crossing the line in 24.04 seconds. The double marked her first time dipping under 11.60 and 24.10, respectively, in a single competition.

After her races, Nwankwo hinted that more was to come, setting high expectations for the remainder of the season. With the national trials and the potential World U20 Championships on the horizon, she has positioned herself as a strong contender.
