Bayern Munich have confirmed that Jamal Musiala has undergone successful surgery following a serious injury sustained against Paris Saint-Germain.
The 22-year-old was forced off at half-time during the FIFA Club World Cup quarter-final held in the United States.
Musiala suffered a fractured fibula due to a broken and dislocated ankle in the clash with the French champions.
Bayern described the injury as severe and confirmed that the midfielder would be sidelined for several months.
According to the club, Musiala will begin his rehabilitation sessions on Tuesday, starting with light physical therapy.

The German international had been in impressive form before the incident cut short his Club World Cup campaign. He is now expected to miss a significant part of Bayern’s domestic and European calendar.
Bayern fans and teammates have sent messages of support, hoping for his full and speedy recovery. Musiala’s absence presents a major blow to Thomas Tuchel’s squad as they chase multiple titles in the coming season.
Also, the club has not given a specific timeline for his return but said he will remain out for “months.”
Meanwhile, the German champions stated further updates on his recovery will be provided as his rehabilitation progresses.
