My top songs from Benson Bonne’s Fireworks and Rollerblades album, Beautiful Things not included

Estimated reading time: 4 minutes

From Benson Bonne Fireworks and Rollerblades‘ album, Beautiful Things seems to have caught the attention of most music lovers. But listening to the album, Beautiful Things is my least favourite.I am going to be sharing with you my top songs from the album and why they are.

Hello Love

Benson Bonne has poetic lines as lyrics. I will say if he was a poet, he will make a fine one. This song talks about someone who begs his love not to leave him. Not like his love is leaving him physically but he feels like they are.

The personae in the song fears his love feels a different way already. He blames it on his mind emphasizing his total vulnerability to his love such that he needs them to hold him while the storm is in his head. The part has the musical feel that raises the intensity of his plea. The title of the album stems from this song.

My Greatest Fear

In almost all the songs in this album, Fireworks and Rollerblades, Benson expresses a fear of losing his loved one, the intricacies of his mind and how he overthinks. In this song, he expressed his greatest fear of losing someone very dear.

The personae is ” terrified of the day he dies” but it’s not as scary as losing the person dear to him.He also expresses how he hasn’t talked to God “since early May”. He makes us think the person he is scared of losing is still there with him. But at the end of the song, he lets us know that they are already gone.

There She Goes

Actually, this is one of the most optimistic songs on the album. In this song, the personae has a woman who takes him out of his loneliness. She makes him feel so elated and his world is empty without her.Anytime he is not with her, he wants to come back home, to her. This woman has literally turned his life upside down in a good way.

Love of Mine

Benson Bonne’s lyrics always highlight vulnerability. It mentions how the personae feels empty or lost without his love. This song is actually sad as it appears he has already lost his love. He is basically lamenting about his life after the separation. He feels a great deal of pain.It is like he doesn’t see his love again except if he hopes to see her in his dreams.

In the Stars

Tissue paper, please. How I wish I could use an emoji! The personae in this song has lost someone close to him and doesn’t want to say goodbye. He is still holding on to all they have got.The personae no longer goes to church because the person he lost helped him go to church regularly. Now, he can’t bring himself to go church because they are no more.

The album, Fireworks and Rollerblades is available on streaming platforms for you to listen to. You should actually engage the whole studio album because it is actually a masterpiece. Benson Bonne is no doubt a talented singer and his songwriting prowess is out of this world.
