Former Television host Morayo Afolabi-Brown has cautioned blogs against misrepresenting her remarks about the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi.
In a recent interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo, Afolabi-Brown admitted that some of her previous criticisms of the former Anambra State governor were based on insufficient knowledge of his record in office.
Reflecting on her earlier stance, she said: “It was because I did not know him. After I made that comment, people reached out and said, ‘Morayo, do you realise that when he was governor, he actually served us?’ I said, ‘Oh, I did not know.’”

However, the broadcaster, in a post on Instagram on Wednesday, clarified that her statement was taken out of context.
She noted that her discussion with Jideonwo centered on an old comment in which she suggested President Bola Tinubu should “step aside for six months and allow Peter Obi to be president,” after observing Obi serving rice at public functions.
Explaining further, she said: “Chude asked me about that, and I said I did not know him at the time. I didn’t know that even as governor, he used to serve food at events. I wrongly assumed it was a desperate act, and I admitted I was wrong. That was all I meant, nothing more, nothing less. Please, don’t twist my words.”
