The National Assembly is set to receive an executive bill on the new national minimum wage on Tuesday, following an agreement between President Bola Tinubu and labour leaders on increasing Nigerian workers’ salaries.
On Thursday, President Tinubu, along with the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC), led by their presidents Joe Ajaero and Festus Osifo respectively, agreed on ā¦70,000 as the new national minimum wage during a meeting at the Aso Presidential Villa in Abuja.
This new minimum wage will replace the current ā¦30,000 minimum wage, which expired on April 18, 2024.

To formalize this agreement before its implementation, Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to President Tinubu on Information and Strategy, confirmed that the executive bill would be submitted to the National Assembly by Tuesday.
He stated, āThe minimum wage will reach the National Assembly by Tuesday. He (President Tinubu) told labour in the meeting that it will be ready by Tuesday.ā
