The Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), Kaduna, has issued a public notice advising residents of Afaka, Kauya, Mando, and nearby areas to stay away from its open range between Tuesday and November 7.
This advisory was contained in a statement released by the NDA’s Public Relations Officer, Major Mohammed Maidawa, on Monday in Kaduna.
According to the statement, “NDA wishes to inform the general public, especially inhabitants of Mando, Tsamiya, Kauya, and Afaka general area, that it will be conducting a Range Management Package Shooting Exercise for cadets of the 73 regular course (Army).
“The exercise is scheduled to hold from Tuesday to Nov 7, at NDA open range Afaka.”

The Academy further assured residents that adequate safety precautions had been taken to ensure the smooth conduct of the training.
“The NDA assures the general public that all necessary safety measures have been put in place for the successful conduct of the exercise.
“Please accept the highest consideration and esteemed regards of the Commandant NDA, Maj.-Gen. Abdul Ibrahim,” the statement added.
The NDA conducts such exercises regularly as part of its military training to enhance cadets’ weapon-handling proficiency and operational readiness.
Residents living close to the training range are therefore urged to comply with the directive for their own safety.
