NFF appoints Busari to replace Olowookere as Flamingos Head Coach

The Nigeria Football Federation has appointed Akeem Busari as the new head coach of Nigeria’s U-17 women’s national team, the Flamingos.

Busari takes over from Bankole Olowookere, who previously led the team and oversaw a period of notable progress for the young side.

Before his appointment, Busari served as head coach of Pacesetters Queens, where he gained recognition for developing young talents and promoting competitive football at the domestic level.

Consequently, expectations are already rising around his ability to replicate that success on the international stage.

Busari’s mission: Talent hunt, global ambition, and Flamingos’ World Cup charge

The appointment is part of the federation’s broader efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s women’s football structure, particularly at the youth level, as the country prepares for upcoming continental and global competitions.

Busari is expected to immediately begin preparations for forthcoming qualifying fixtures, including the next cycle of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup and African qualifiers, where Nigeria has historically been a strong contender.
