Nigeria’s CHAN Eagles have qualified for the 2024 CHAN tournament after a comprehensive 3-1 over the Black Galaxies of Ghana on Saturday.
The home-based Eagles produced a convincing victory in Uyo to qualify 3-1 on aggregate following a goalless draw between both sides in the first leg played in Accra.
Remo Stars right back Sodiq Ismail drew the first blood in the 19th minute, beating the offside trap before shooting past the Ghanaian goalkeeper.

Three minutes later, Ismail’s club teammate and captain Nduka Junior doubled the lead. He latched unto a loose ball before unleashing a fierce shot from inside the box.
Nigeria scored their third goal within six minutes when Rangers midfielder Isaac Saviour stole the ball off a Ghana defender before expertly rounding the opposition goalkeeper and netting the home side’s third.
In the 73rd minute, 24-year-old Berekum Chelsea player Stephen Amankona pulled one back.
With the win and qualification, Nigeria’s CHAN Eagles reach the Africa Nations Championship for the first time in six years.
The delayed 2024 CHAN is scheduled to be played from February 1, 2025 in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda.
