Ryan Alebiosu’s Super Eagles journey has officially begun, and the defender is embracing the moment. The 23-year-old described his first Nigeria invitation as a dream realised.
Nigeria head coach Eric Chelle named Alebiosu in his AFCON 2025 squad last week. The tournament will take place in Morocco, starting later this month.
Alebiosu’s inclusion follows a strong run of performances in England. The right-back has been one of Blackburn Rovers’ most consistent players this season. As a result, his form has not gone unnoticed by the national team selectors. With Ola Aina and Benjamin Frederick unavailable, Alebiosu is expected to provide balance and energy.
“It’s a pleasure. Very much delighted…”
Speaking after the announcement, Alebiosu could not hide his excitement. “It’s a pleasure. Very much delighted, can’t wait to get started,” he said.

He stressed his hunger to contribute meaningfully to the team. “I want to help my nation reach big things. My family are delighted. I’ve never seen them so happy,” Alebiosu revealed.

That reaction, he admitted, made the call-up even more special. “Great feeling,” he said, reflecting on their joy.
Choosing Nigeria was an easy decision for the London-born defender. “Nigeria came calling and it’s something I didn’t want to miss,” he explained.
At 23, Alebiosu sees the invitation as timely and motivating. “It’s a big opportunity, especially at my age,” he concluded.
