Nigerian traveler and adventurer Alma Asinobi has announced her attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the Fastest Time to Visit All Seven Continents, aiming to complete the journey in under 70 hours.
In a post shared on X, Asinobi revealed that her journey will begin on March 15, with plans to travel from Antarctica to Australia, stepping foot on every continent in between.
Her goal is to beat the current record of 73 hours, set by Indian travelers Sujoy Mitra and Dr. Ali Irani.
“This is the scariest tweet I’ve ever written, but it makes sense because it’s about the scariest thing I’ve ever had to do,” she wrote.
Beyond setting a new record, Asinobi hopes to highlight challenges faced by travelers from countries with low-mobility passports.
She recounted her struggles in obtaining visas for the trip, stating, “When I fully recover from having to apply for 10+ visas for this, applying for 1 of them 4 times and another 3 times before getting approvals, I’ll go in-depth about why we simply cannot afford to accept and be silent about the second-class treatment we’re subjected to.”

Having received her first passport in 2019, Asinobi has since visited about 30 countries. Through this challenge, she aims to shed light on “passport privilege, or in our case… the lack thereof.”
“I’m pushing the limits of one of the lowest-ranking passports in the world on this adventure,” she stated, adding that she hopes to inspire others to explore the world despite visa restrictions.
Asinobi will be sharing real-time updates on her journey using the hashtags #AlmaChasingContinents and #7in70.
She also hinted at another record attempt upon her return to Lagos.
