Nigerian artistes earn over N60bn on Spotify in 2025 – Report

Nigerian musicians generated more than N60 billion in revenue from Spotify in 2025, according to the streaming platform’s annual report released on Monday.

The figures indicate a sharp rise in earnings, showing that revenue generated by Nigerian artists on the platform has increased by more than 140 per cent within the last two years.

The report also disclosed that independent artists and labels played a major role in the earnings, accounting for about 58 per cent of all royalties Nigerian musicians received from Spotify in 2025.

According to the report, Nigerian artists recorded 30.3 billion streams on the platform during the year, accumulating a total of 1.6 billion hours of listening time.

The data further showed growing support for female artists, as local streams of Nigerian female musicians rose by 55 per cent within the same period.


Nigerian music also continued to gain strong international attention. The report revealed that Nigerian artists appeared in nearly 320 million user-generated playlists across the world, while over 12 million user playlists featuring their songs were created within Nigeria.

Altogether, more than 60 million playlists featuring Nigerian artists were created on Spotify in 2025 alone.
