Ayra Starr is one of the biggest superstars in modern Afrobeats history. Since her emergence, she has been consistently compared to her South African counterpart, Tyla who emerged into limelight at almost the same timeframe.
The 22-year-old singer-songwriter has come out to address the ongoing comparison with her South African counterpart.

The youngsters attracted comparisons online after they were both nominated in the maiden Best African Music Performance category at the 66th Grammys, which Tyla beat Ayra Starr and other Nigerian artists to the gong.
Addressing the comparison for the first time during an interview with BBC Radio 1 Xtra, Ayra Starr said sheās not letting the comparison affect her relationship with Tyla.
She described the South African diva as her āhome girlā and her āG.ā
She said, āTyla is my homegirl, thatās my G. That doesnāt bother me at all. I donāt care about all of that. Less noise, more music.
Letās support each other, like, why not, like afrobeats and African music is about to take over the world and we have to come together to be able to do that. Thereās no need for comparisons.ā
