Leicester City’s fall from the Premier League has been sealed – and no one feels the pain more than Jamie Vardy.
In a brutally honest message, the 37-year-old club legend broke his silence after the Foxes’ relegation was confirmed. His words reflected raw emotion, regret, and a deep sense of responsibility.

“At this point, I don’t even know what to say. No words I have can ever express my feelings of anger and sadness with the way this season has gone. There are no excuses.”

Vardy, who has spent more than a decade with Leicester and famously led the line during their historic 2015–16 title-winning campaign, didn’t hold back in his criticism.
“Collectively, as players and as a club, we failed. There is simply no hiding, and I refuse to entertain any suggestion of doing so.”
The veteran striker, who joined Leicester from non-league Fleetwood Town in 2012 for just £1 million, has built a legacy as one of the Premier League’s most lethal forwards. Yet, the end of this campaign has been one of the darkest moments in his illustrious career.
“Having been at this club for so long, we’ve experienced so many highs and successes – and this season has been nothing but miserable and for me personally, a total embarrassment. It hurts, and I know you’re feeling it too.”

Leicester’s relegation marks their first return to the Championship since 2014, ending a 10-year spell in the top flight that included a league title, an FA Cup win, and Champions League nights. Through it all, Vardy has remained a symbol of grit, loyalty, and goals.
To the fans, his apology was heartfelt:
“To the fans: I’m sorry. Sorry we haven’t performed, and sorry we end the 2025 season with such a s**t show.”
