Nollywood actress Etinosa Idemudia has disclosed that fellow actress Mercy Johnson played a crucial role in protecting her after she allegedly received death threats from her former husband.
Etinosa made this known during a recent sit-down with media entrepreneur Chude Jideonwo, where she spoke about events that followed an interview in which she accused her first husband of domestic violence.
According to her, the situation escalated after the interview was published, as she began receiving threats from her ex-husband, who accused her of trying to destroy his career.
Recounting the experience, Etinosa explained that Mercy Johnson intervened by escalating the matter to top military authorities.

She said, “So, how that happened, I went for an interview for a film, ‘Stormy Heart’. Like I said, at that time I was very green. I don’t know how to avoid questions in an interview or divert or lie with sense. It’s all about honesty at that time. So I think they asked about love or relationship. I now said one relationship nearly killed me. Anyway sha, the person is my ex-husband. I said it carelessly.
“Did you know that the media house left everything I said about the film, they now crafted marriage aspects. Even myself I was shocked, nothing wey I no hear. Because nobody knew about all those things until that time. My ex-husband now called me that I’m doing an interview on his head. So he started threatening me, saying that I want to ruin his career. He said that I should come out and write that I said those things because I’m a bitter ex. And I asked him if he wanted me to put myself under the box for you?
“So when the threat was getting too much, I have to now cry out on Instagram. So, a few people reached out to me that I can’t remember. But I remember that Mercy Johnson reached out to me because she has a very strong military background. She was like she’s going to forward the case to the Chief of Naval Staff, to cut the story short, someone from Abuja reached out to me that they are now on the case, that this person will not bother you anymore.”
News Round The Clock recalls that Etinosa was previously married to a military officer, Babatunde Solomon, with the union ending between 2017 and 2018. Her second marriage, to Benin-based lawyer Ighorosa, also ended in 2021 after the birth of their child.
