The Nigerian entertainment industry has been thrown into deep mourning following the death of Nollywood actor Alex Ekubo after a battle with liver cancer.
He was aged 40.
The heartbreaking news spread across social media on Tuesday, leaving actors, filmmakers and fans struggling to come to terms with the sudden loss.
Actress Kehinde Bankole described the news as one that “breaks the heart in many pieces,” as she prayed for comfort for everyone affected by the tragedy. She also praised the late actor for being “one of our most formidable players in our industry.”

Veteran actor Richard Mofe-Damijo admitted he was still struggling to process the painful news. According to him, “Life is not only fickle, it can also feel unreal,” as he prayed for Alex Ekubo’s soul to rest in peace.
Actress Sarah Martins lamented that the actor “didn’t deserve this” and said he left “too soon.”
Chizzy Alichi revealed that she had hoped the actor would return online to deny the reports. “I waited for you to come out and debunk this,” she wrote emotionally.
