- 1863- President Lincoln’s Iconic Address

President Abraham Lincoln, the 16th President of the United States delivered the Gettysburg Address as part of a dedication to the Soldier’s National Cemetery (now the Gettysburg National Cemetery). This speech was made on the afternoon of November 19, 1863 on the grounds where the battle of Gettysburg was fought, in Pennsylvania. The address was less than 275 words in length but it defined the meaning of the Civil War. According to him, it was a momentous chapter in the global struggle for self-government, liberty and equality.
- 1917- Birth of Indira Gandhi

On November 19, 1917, Indira Gandhi was born in Allahabad, India. As the only daughter of the then Prime Minister, she was said to be destined for politics. She was the third and first female Prime Minister, appointed in 1966. Indira secured a huge public following for agricultural improvements that made India self-sufficient in food grain production. She achieved success in the Pakistan war that led to the creation of Bangladesh in 1971. Tragically, in 1984, her bodyguards assassinated her.
- 1942- The famous Calvin Klein

Today, the American fashion designer, Calvin Richard Klein, celebrates his 83rd birthday. He was born on November 19, 1942. He is the founder of Calvin Klein, a well-known company recognized for its extensive range of clothing, watches, perfumes, and jewelry.

1969- Pele scores his 1000th professional goal

At 29, the renowned Brazilian striker, Pelé, broke the 1000-goal barrier on the 19th November 2025. This was a historic event at Rio de Janeiro’s Maracana Stadium. The match was between Santos and Vasco de Gama. Pele scored the goal on a penalty kick against Vasco da Gama. That moment became one of the defining feats that made him a legend on the field.
- 1994- 44th Miss World

Bollywood star Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was crowned as the 44th Miss World on November 18, 1994. She is notably the second Indian woman to receive this honour. She was 21 years old at that time. The pageant was held in Sun City, South Africa.
- 2021- Adele’s “30”

On November 19, 2021, Adele released her fourth studio album, “30”. This was following the release of her last album, six years earlier. It was later a best-selling album worldwide in 2021, with about 4.68 million copies sold within the same year. The album surrounds her experiences following her separation from her partner, motherhood, and fame.
